Extracurricular

There are many opportunities for students to pursue individual interests in our community.

Adventures in Learning is an after-school enrichment program for students in grades 2-6. Running for five weeks in late winter, AIL offers classes in a variety of challenging and creative topics including: drama, art, music, architecture, math, science, literature and world cultures. Each course is uniquely designed and taught by the volunteer instructors, mostly Williams College students, who bring to the course imagination, creativity and a desire to share their passions and interests with children.

The Williamstown Youth Center, located a short walk from the elementary school, provides many special programs for children both at the center and at the school. An after school program allows children to come together to play various games, provides help with homework and has a variety of video and athletic games available to children. In addition, the Youth Center coordinates athletic programs and leagues for the children in the community, the most popular being a Wednesday skiing program during winter, and soccer and basketball leagues during the fall, winter and spring.

The Youth Center organizes a summer recreation program which allows children to come together for many artistic and athletic events during the months of July and August. The summer program facilitates many field trips to venues throughout the Berkshires, including a swimming program at Margaret Lindley Park in Williamstown.

The Williamstown Town Library provides special programs for children. The town library also coordinates a special summer reading program for children which includes special awards for the participants.
